At the beginning of April every year, thousands of people across the nation partake in a little humor. April Fool's Day is a unique day of the year when almost every person has a funny side, even the folks at Honda. The marketing team at Honda decided to create a funny new anti-theft technology and then went on to fool many readers across the web.
Known simply as TERII, the new system seems to be a play on a certain popular phone manufacturer's new digital assistant. Except instead of fetching useful information from the web, TERII simply trash talks would-be car thieves.
TERRI begins insulting the robber the instant that the sensors notice a potential break in. This system has an array of defense mechanisms from basic bargaining to psycho analysis. Then, things get a little more intense until the system is essentially mocking the burglar into backing off.
And of course here at East Coast Honda we are aware that this type of technology would never be successful. And that was only the first clue that it was an April Fools' joke. The other? Their claim that the new system was the result of ten years of engineering voodoo, as well as harnessing FBI hostage negotiators and cognitive psychologists.
For now, the new Honda models that East Coast Honda carries at 8756 A Highway 17 Bypass South in Myrtle Beach, SC will simply have to rely on the standard anti-theft systems that have been preventing thefts and recovering stolen vehicles for years... Though we do greatly look forward to seeing what other real technological innovations Honda has in store in the near future.
