It is no secret that for years the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular cars in the compact segment here in the United States. Known for its longevity, reliability and sporty appeal, it appears that the Civic has now spawned a sibling that will be debuted this year at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The new model is called the Honda Civic Tourer and from the few images we have seen, we are convinced that this new vehicle will be a success.

Honda released some images of the new Civic Tourer and we have to say that for a wagon / hatchback this new vehicle has some real spunk.

Adrian Killham, large project leader for the Civic Tourer, spoke about this most recent creation, saying it is "…a car that has almost a sports-car silhouette. For me, the strength of the car is the synergy of functionality, versatility, and dynamic expression."1

Drivers who elect to purchase a new Civic Tourer will get to choose between either an Earth Dreams1.6-liter i-DTEC diesel engine or a 1.8 i-VTEC gas engine. The Tourer will be also be available with both an automatic and manual transmission, as well as an adaptive damper system that will improve handling.

Ready for the bad news?

The new Civic Tourer will only be going on sale in Europe for the foreseeable future.
