Honda's Earth Dreams engines are the talk of the town right now, looking to lean further towards the efficient eco-friendly directions while still offering great performance. The future of the Civic is also the hottest of topics. So today, we here at East Coast Honda have some news that kills two birds with one stone.
The folks over at Autoblog took a test drive in the 2015 Honda Civic Type R prototype, outfitted with an Earth Dreams engine. Let's take a look at what they discovered.
While the 1.0- and 1.5-liter Earth Dreams engines are less about speed than earth-consciousness, the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is something of the outlier. With an estimated output upwards of 280 horsepower (actual measurement yet to be made official), this Type R is no slacker. In fact, it plans on taking the Nürburgring front-drive lap record and, if it's truly as great as it sounds, this should be very much within its reach.
But that's mentioning nothing of its gorgeous exterior. Though some aspects have been covered and concealed, what's showing is jaw-dropping. Meaty wheel arches, an aggressive rear wing, and quadruple exhaust tips make it more of a beast than ever before. Lightweight and in matte black, we can't take our eyes off it.
Keep tuned in to the blog for more details about this Civic prototype as it gets closer to production.
