Ask any of the old-timers here at East Coast Honda and they'll tell you that our lineup has changed quite a bit over the years. Heck, just look at the 2014 Honda Accord Plug-In Hybrid. 20 years ago we could only dream of such a car. With that being said, change has been awfully good for our favorite automaker.

Not only that, but it's been good for our economy, too.

See, once upon a time, Honda didn't make any vehicles in the US. Back then, they were importing all of their vehicles to American customers with fine taste in automobiles. But, like we said, times have changed over the years.

Last year, Honda exported 88,537 vehicles from Japan to customers across the globe. More importantly, they also exported 108,705 vehicles from their operations in the States, making them a net exporter in the US for the first time in company history.

As for how they accomplished such a feat, we'll just let them do the explaining.

"In just a few decades, the expansion of free trade and growth in US operations has transformed Honda from importing 100 percent of the cars sold in the US to establishing the US as an export and production hub," says Rick Schostek, senior vice president of Honda North America. "Each vehicle we manufacture for global customers is unique to that country . . . [and meets] their expectations for quality and value."1

So if all this good news has sparked your civic pride, feel free to experience the American-made quality of the models on our lineup with a test drive at our dealership here in Myrtle Beach, SC, just outside of Georgetown. All these satisfied customers must count for something.
