Last month we introduced you to Project Drive-In here on the East Coast Honda blog.  Now, we are proud to announce that the charitable program is in full swing, with five theaters across the country set to receive upgrades to save them from closure.  All of us here in our Myrtle Beach, South Carolina dealership are excited to see these iconic theaters saved, and look forward to more charitable work from the Japanese automaker.

As stated last month, 35mm film is on its way out, and digital projectors are so expensive that many drive-ins across the country simply cannot afford to make the switch.  Project Drove-In has come to the rescue, and Honda is now set to save five drive-ins.

After voting closed September 9th the first winner was announced.  The Saco Drive-In, located in Saco, Maine, was the first theater awarded a digital projector courtesy of the Japanese automaker.  In honor of the new projection system a celebration was held for the community and soon the new film Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2 will be available to the lucky winner before its worldwide release.

Hondas charitable push is a part of a nationwide effort to save the iconic drive-in theater.  As a historic part of cinema and auto culture, these theaters are in jeopardy, so help Honda keep them alive by supporting the initiative.

Pack the family into an Odyssey or any of the other great cars in the new East Coast Honda inventory and go to the nearest drive-in.  Nothing makes a viewing experience better than being under the stars, popcorn ready and in the comfort of your own car.  Our dealership here in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is conveniently located a few blocks from the beach, so stop by after soaking up those cosmic rays and check out our awesome vehicles.
