Ok, so even we here at East Coast Honda agree that a lawnmower matched up with a Civic racecar on the track sounds like an unfair and unexciting race, but do let us go on, because we aren’t talking about a run of the mill lawnmower.

The Mean Mower from our brand is unlike anything you will see cutting grass here in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, because it packs a 109 horsepower 1.0-liter Honda VTR Firestorm motorcycle engine.  With a top speed of 130 miles per hour and a 0-60 in four seconds, this mower can do some serious yard work and burn some serious rubber.

Matched up against a Honda Yuasa Racing Civic BTCC car the numbers are still a little lopsided, as the racer has a 2.0-liter engine with a top speed of 160 miles per hour.  The race was made even though, as the Mean Mower was given a 40 second head start.  This is ok in our book, because just seeing a lawnmower cruise over 100 miles per hour is impressive in itself.

With professional drivers Matt Neal in the Civic and Gordon Shedden on the Mean Mower the racecar won, but by a surprisingly small margin, taking the lead on the final straight away.

A video was created depicting the race and more in-depth information on both the Mean Mower and the Civic racer, so you can check that out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AK9g8qIAW-E

This stunt is surely entertaining, and great publicity for the brand.  If this gets your blood flowing about the Japanese automaker then we welcome you to come check out the inventory of new Honda vehicles we have here in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  We may not have a Mean Mower, but we do have some pretty incredible cars that are way more street legal.
