Here at East Coast Honda in Myrtle Beach, SC, we take pride in the fact that our Honda manufacturer is always pushing the envelope of efficiency within their Honda new model lineup, so when the Honda Fit Hybrid was recently honored as an eco-friendly model in Honda's home country of Japan, we had to take a minute to highlight that achievement here on our blog, despite the fact that the model is not quite yet available here stateside.

Yes indeed, the Honda Fit Hybrid edition was recently honored as the 'Japan Car of the Year' by an esteemed panel of automotive journalists from the country. The model won his prestigious award for a number of reasons, and after hearing about it, we think you'll want this model to be available here stateside as badly as we do!

To win Honda's 12th 'Japan Car of the Year Award', the Fit Hybrid beat out a ton of domestic competition, and is Honda's first award since 2010 when the CR-Z took home the honor.

First and foremost in terms of why the car won this incredible honor is the fact that it is incredibly efficient. It uses an environmentally friendly 1.5-liter engine with a lithium ion battery, when combined allowed for the highest levels of efficiency on any model in the past model year in Japan.

Furthermore, the compact model is quite stylish, featuring a modern design with bold lines leading from a sculpted front end to a powerful back.
